Helix Pet Hospital is a full-service animal hospital and welcomes pet patients in need of routine medical, surgical, and dental care as well as being there for them in case of emergencies. Meet The Staff

  • Dr.
    Ryan Lorber

    Dr. Ryan Lorber has been practicing veterinary medicine for 11 years. He completed his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University in 2007. Originally a Cincinnati native, Dr. Lorber has been enjoying the California sunshine ever since graduating vet school. He originally practiced in Dana Point, and has been in San Diego for the last 6 years.

  • Janine
    RVT/Lead Technician

    Janine has been serving as a registered veterinary technician in San Diego since 2012.  She has worked in both general and specialty practices, but feels more at home in a general neighborhood practice.  Janine grew up in the Ocean Beach neighborhood, where her parents still live. 

  • Andrea
    Practice Manager

    A San Diego native, Andrea has been in the veterinary field for 13 years.  She has been with Helix Pet Hospital since late 2016.  She believes strongly in making both pets and their owners feel at home and safe in the hospital.  In her spare time Andrea enjoys crafting, home improvement and spending time with her family.  Andrea shares her home with her daughter,her boyfriend and their three cats: Starla, Stevie Nicks and Edco, and abearded dragon named Khaleesi.

    Veterinary Assistant

    Molly began volunteering with Helix Pet Hospital since when she was still in high school.  She has been with the practice since 2015.  Molly loves art and went to an art based high school.  In her free time Molly enjoys horse back riding, taking her dogs to the beach and relaxing at home.  She shares her home with a horse named Tricky and two dogs named Tigger and Shadow.

    Veterinary Assistant

    Patrick has been with Helix Pet Hospital since early 2017. A San Diego native, he has always had a great love for all animals. When not at work, Patrick enjoys spending his free time with his baby, Golden Retriever Stella. Previous to joining the veterinary field, Patrick served in the Marines for 4 years.

  • Zach
    Veterinary Assistant

    Zach has been with Helix Pet Hospital since late 2017.  He recently graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Biology and plans to apply for Vet school.  In his spare time he loves snow boarding and watching soccer, his favorite team is Manchester United.  Zach loves animals of all shapes and sizes and shares his home with two dogs named Delilah and Macie and two cats named Samson and Colbert.

  • Tigo
    Resident Reptile

    Tigo has been with the Helix Pet Hospital since 2013. She is a Leopard Gecko. Her favorite staff member is Andrea, as she always makes sure her room is the appropriate temperature and she is well stocked on snacks. Her hobbies include: napping in his den, eating crickets and eavesdropping on the juiciest staff gossip.

  • Sarah

    Sarah joined the Helix Pet Hospital team in August of 2018. She has been in the field for 4 years and is currently enrolled in Veterinary Technician School, working towards obtaining her RVT license. Sarah shares her home with 5 dogs! She has two Pit Bulls: Diamond and Jasmine; a Presa Canario/Pit Bull named Dyna, a Boxer/Pit Bull named Dago and a German Shepherd puppy named Doobie. She loves all her fur babies deeply. Sarah shares in the Helix commitment to providing the best possible care for all of her patients and is a valued member of our team.
